Review from Henry C (Nephew of Resident), 31 January 2025

My Aunt arrived in Elliscombe in mid 2024. She was very malnourished and frail, and quite delusional. Under the care at Elliscombe she has really recovered well and is enjoying staying there. She now eats well, engages with other residents and staff and is pleased to host visitors there too. The

transformation of my Aunt into a happy person, on the ball again, has been lovely to see. I would thoroughly recommend Elliscombe. I have experienced other care homes that cost not much less, but that are nothing like as good. Really worth it.

Review from Sue H (Wife of Resident),15 January 2025

My husband entered Elliscombe House on the 7th September 2022. The care he has received has been exceptional. The staff are very caring and he has had their full care whenever he has needed it.

Review from P T (Goddaughter of Resident), 5 December 2024

Attention is given to arranging my godmother's favourite carers to be able to attend to her which has made such a positive difference to her everyday peace of mind. Having elegant private areas with gorgeous garden views to settle into for morning tea has really helped encourage her out of her room.

I have found recently all the special requirements to make her comfortable in her room have been met, especially her setting arrangements. She said to me last week that she is very comfortable being here at Elliscombe House.

Review from Nicholas S (Son of Resident),15 November 2024

My mother was a resident at Elliscombe House from February till October 2024, when she passed away after a long illness. The staff - both carers and nurses - were incredibly compassionate and caring towards her, particularly in her final difficult days and hours and their approach was always professional.

Care home staff are only human, and the work can be difficult, so occasionally things were not always perfect but overall the compassionate and humane approach that was present both towards my mother and myself during such a turbulent and difficult time was genuinely uplifting and I am extremely grateful to everyone.
The care home itself is immaculate and is clean, attractive and feels akin to a hotel - excellent food and service and as I say - kind, caring and professional staff. I would not hesitate to recommend Elliscombe to anybody considering it - especially those who may be looking towards end-of-life care.

Really excellent residence. Glad we chose Elliscombe as a care home. Thank you.

Review from T W (Daughter of Resident), 11 November 2024

The staff know my mother well. They are always very considerate towards her. She has said many times that she is very happy in Elliscombe and is delighted that we chose this care home for her last years.

Review from C F (Son of Resident), 5 June 2024

Elliscombe House, facilities, and staff were fantastic. Staff always worked hard and professionally to ensure my father had the best care. The food was restaurant quality with plenty of choice. The building itself is a great place to live in and also visit with fantastic grounds. Can't praise it any

higher.

Review from Margaret K (Resident), 10 April 2024

Excellent service when needed. Courtesy and kindness paramount. Carers are most willing but often overworked. Waiting for help (call button) is usually immediate. Return of washed clothes sometimes disappointing, several times I have to keep asking for clothes, other times quickly returned, nicely ironed.

Adventurous chef, lots of choice of food and very obliging regarding times of eating, will always provide food if needed other than normal times and choice of rooms to eat in.

Review from Brian N, 19 April 2023

After having a hernia repaired for the second time, I felt it prudent to look after myself for the first week after the operation. There was not many options for convalescence after surgery in and around where I live, but Elliscombe House did offer this service and I was very pleased that I chose to

stay there. There is no way being on my own at home that I would have got myself three good meals a day as I was quite drugged-up and very sore. I am sure being well nourished helped the recovery and it was also nice knowing there was medical help available should be it needed. The first three days, I had meals in my room and then as I improved I went down to the dining area. The quality and choice of the food was excellent and, together with the attentiveness and care of the staff, made my stay very enjoyable. I recommend Elliscombe House wholeheartedly.

Review from Caroline C (Daughter of Resident), 19 April 2023

I wanted to have a little celebration for mums 88th birthday, asked if I could invite mums siblings. Well, I couldn't ever have anticipated the response to my request, the home manager was immediately proactive, helped mum send out email birthday invitations, and the chef met with mum (and I but separately

to fully encourage mums independence in her project of arranging her own party) numbers were confirmed, the orangery was beautifully decorated with balloons and ribbons, the most wonderful buffet lunch was served with mums canapes all served in a soft food format on tiny wooden spoons (to comply with SALT careplan) we had fizz and birthday cake, about a dozen of us came and it was wonderful. None of us imagined we would ever have such a family party with mum again, and thought those days had passed, we made memories at this party and most importantly mum loved it. Thank you Elliscombe from the bottom of our collective hearts

Review from Sara H (Daughter of Resident), 15 August 2022

It was never my wish or intention for my mother to live in a nursing home. However, because of her extensive needs following a substantial stroke and the amount of care and equipment necessary to keep her safe and comfortable, Elliscombe House has proved to be the optimum place for her to reside. The

home itself is beautifully decorated and furnished, my mother has a lovely comfortable room with french windows opening to a stunning garden which is perfect for wheeling her out for a breath of fresh air. From the delicious individualised food to the extensive choice of activities available nothing appears to be too much trouble for any of the staff. The nurses and carers are all so approachable and genuinely seem to do their utmost to enhance the lives of the residents; they do a fantastic job and my mother is treated with great kindness and respect at all times. I am truly grateful that my wonderful mother is able to be cared for at Elliscombe House.

Review from Barbra F (Friend of Resident), 10 August 2022

I have visited my friend many times since she has been at Elliscombe House. I have to say the welcome I receive is absolutely marvellous. The manager always offers us a quiet private area to sit and chat with a coffee and delicious homemade cakes. We have also had many opportunities to have lunch together.

The menu choices and food is outstanding. Elliscombe House is busy with activities and laughter! My friend can’t stop talking about the ‘Wimblescombe’ event, what a fabulous idea and how appropriate! My friend also loves the crafts mornings. The nursing and care staff are truly passionate in their roles, the team working and togetherness is refreshing to watch. My friend feels so well looked after, during a poorly few days the nurses particularly attended to her every need. The encouragement and gentle ‘banter’ keeps everyone smiling and the effort to ensure my friend is comfortable and looks her best just how she likes is so heartwarming. Believe me, nothing is too much trouble!

Review from Caroline N (Daughter of Resident), 30 June 2022

My mother arrived at Elliscombe for respite care after an accident and a two week stay in hospital and was made to feel at home, safe and cared for immediately. From my first telephone call, the staff could not have been kinder or more efficient. Elliscombe House has such a lovely atmosphere, is light,

airy and beautifully decorated with lovely and well-maintained gardens. I cannot thank the manager and her team enough, the standard of care is next to none. My mother was cared for with such kindness, compassion and attention to detail. Every member of staff from the chef to the gardener, built up a relationship with my mother and made her feel cared for and at home. As a family, we were all made to feel welcome, when visiting. After a 10-week stay, my mother is now back home and I cannot recommend Elliscombe more highly.

Review from Anna M (Daughter of Resident), 30 June 2022

My mother went to stay following a nasty accident and required care while she recovered. The home is lovely; thoughtfully decorated and furnished. Her room looked out at the garden which made a significant difference to her. The garden is very thoughtful with wheelchair-friendly paths, planting that

can be seen from the bedrooms and plants that are fragrant. The food was above average, beautifully cooked and well presented. The Manager listened to our concerns, thought about what we said and acted on this. She was easy to deal with, clearly had the best interests of her clients at heart and was efficient and open in communicating. The house itself is well thought out, with wide corridors and lots of light. The care staff were patient and clearly cared about the residents, they were good at making a relationship with my mother, encouraging her to take part in activities and were good-humoured and lovely. This was a good place for my mother to be whilst recovering.

Review from D H (Son of Resident), 22 February 2022

My sister and I cannot recommend Elliscombe House highly enough. We needed to move Mum at short notice to a nursing home closer to the family and the manager and the team have ensured mum felt it was like coming home. Nothing is too much trouble whether that be day or night. The staff are very attentive,

not only to the care required but also to Mum's likes and dislikes, and always treat her as an individual. Mum is up and about every day being involved with crafts and activities and trips out into the lovely grounds of the home. Mum is happier now than she has been for a long time and we feel this is down to the care and attention she is receiving from everyone at Elliscombe.

Review from Lucy B (Daughter of Resident), 20 January 2022

As a family, we are very impressed with Elliscombe House. My mother came to Elliscombe initially for respite care, while she recovered from a health issue affecting her mobility - being increasingly frail, she then decided to stay and make Elliscombe her home. The staff could not have been kinder or

more helpful from my initial phone call onwards. The care offered to residents is amazingly attentive. All members of staff, from carers to chefs, build a connection with each resident, and careful thought is given to enable residents to settle quickly and comfortably. Other professionals, such as hairdressers, visit regularly. Nothing is too much trouble. The house has been beautifully and tastefully renovated and is designed to be a real "home from home". The menus are thoughtful and the food is delicious - very much fine dining and a daily pleasure.

Review from S S (Daughter of Resident), 19 January 2022

My Mum decided to move from a Lancashire care home to live at Elliscombe, near to family in Somerset. The staff at Elliscombe have been amazingly supportive from the first phone call to the present day. We have been very fortunate to share the fantastic interaction and professional support with the

Elliscombe team, who have a common desire to care with the compassion, dignity, and care the residents deserve. Mum and the other residents are at the centre of everything the staff do and constantly aim “To get it right!” and meet every day with a big smile and cheery words. There is excellent communication between the staff and family to ensure that Mum’s needs are met each day! Mum has been eager to participate in the weekday activities that are planned and adapted to suit Mum, these activity sessions enable Mum to think and express her ideas and stimulate her mobility. I am always reassured when I leave Mum after visits, that she is safe, well cared for, enjoys yummy meals, and is inspired!
