Spring Fete Fun!
How wonderful it was to welcome family, friends and our local community into our home and gardens on Bank Holiday Monday for our annual Spring Fete.
Local brands and businesses who came to showcase their wares, and help us raise money and awareness for St Margaret's Hospice. Some of these included Simply Fudge Sherborne, Dowdings Cider, In Holistics, Jouelle Handmade Jewellery, Mystical Aura, and Bespoke Woodwork.
Coming down the driveway to reams of colourful bunting, visitors were greeted by the team and two ponies from Pevlings Farm Riding & Livery Sables. Children were able to ride up and down the drive and residents who had had much to do with horses in their younger lives were delighted to spend time with them.
There was coffee and cocktails courtesy of Fawn Coffee and pizza and ice cream from Dan at Peaky Bakers.
In front of a balloon arch, loving made by Cat, our Head of Housekeeping, was a bright blue Austin Seven belonging to one of our residents sons, and where we invited the YFW Blood Bikes to join us. The charity organisation is run by Yeovil Freewheelers (EVS) and they deliver blood, platelets, tissue samples, medication, baby milk, X-rays, CT scans, medical documents and equipment to countless NHS organisations and patients in South Somerset and Dorset.
Rosemary Hospitality Events brought slushies and popcorn, and Pretty Skinz painted faces in the children's area where Carnage Events joined us again with a host of bouncy castles and ball pits for our smaller guests!
Pitcombe Rock Falconry came again to show off their birds of prey and everyone enjoyed the entertainment of the day - Castle Cary Majorettes gave us a spectacular show, and Grace MacDonald sang a lovely rendition of songs from musicals across the ages. Higher Beings Circus' stilt walkers wowed the crowds all day with bubbles, fun and laughter from on high!!
Josie, from Class Creative Art School, captured everyone's imaginations with her stall where you could spray paint your own vinyl record. They looked amazing! Josie was selling some beautiful embroidery made here in the art classes she runs every Monday with residents.
For more than 40 years St Margaret’s Hospice Care has been at the heart of Somerset’s Community. Our support will allow the Hospice to raise an excess of £14m per year to continue providing high quality, responsive and compassionate care to over 5,000 patients and their families, who are suffering a life-limiting illness. We raised over £400 for them and give many thanks to everyone who came to support us and enjoy the day.
