Housekeeper

We require a Housekeeper to join our team. The successful applicant will provide a high quality, infection free laundry and housekeeping service. To ensure that the laundry and home are maintained in a hygienic, clean and safe standard. To provide clean, well presented and maintained linen to residents and other departments. To follow the operational procedures of the housekeeping and laundry department.

Duties and Responsibilities

Regulation and Legislation

1. Follow Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations

2. Complete housekeeping and laundry paperwork accurately, in line with policy and external regulations

3. Ensure personal mandatory training is up to date

Operational Standards

1. Handle all laundry in line with operating procedures keeping clean and dirty laundry separate

2. Follow wash charts when processing laundry in washing machines. Check garment labels when drying and ironing items

3. Stock linen cupboards and ensure they are organised. Report damaged linen or clothing to the head housekeeper and remove from circulation

4. Iron and finish residents clothing, repair if needed and return to their bedrooms ensuring items are hung or folded neatly

5. Organise dry cleaning as required and keep a record of costs

6. In conjunction with care staff, label new residents garments

7. Where personal items are not labelled make every effort to trace the owner and report to the head housekeeper making a note on the appropriate laundry form

8. Report the condition of residents clothing to the head of unit to enable replacements to be purchased by next of kin

9. Report poor wash results to the head housekeeper

10. Talk to residents on a daily basis, taking feedback and making the necessary changes

11. Operate the washing machines, roller iron, steam iron and tumble dryers safely

12. Use cleaning substances in accordance with the manufacturers instructions and use efficiently to prevent wastage

13. Ensure the laundry and chemical stores are locked when not in use. Chemicals must never be left unattended

14. Use safety signage when cleaning floors eg wet floors and cleaning in progress

15. Report all maintenance and safety hazards and withdraw faulty equipment from use immediately

General

1. Adhere to the local safeguarding policy and follow Duty of Candour requirements

2. To follow a 4 week rota developed by the head housekeeper.

3. Participate in resident of the day as directed by the General Manager

Hours are negotiable.

£11.25 ph, with:
